After their repairs, patients in these studies completed a medical survey called the Lysholm Scale that asked them to rate different aspects of their knee health including pain, instability, locking, swelling, limp, ability to climb stairs, ability to squat, and needing support to move. Based on their responses, each patient was given a score of 0 to 100, with higher scores indicating better knee function with fewer symptoms. During follow-up, each patient provided their Tegner Activity scores, a grade that indicates their ability to be active after their repair.
The researchers looked at short-term outcomes, with average time of follow-ups between 24 and 71 months after surgery.
